1964 356C Carrera 2 Coupe

The ultimate evolution of the 356 sells in an evolving market

As the ultimate evolution of the 356, Porsche’s 356C Carrera 2 featured a powerful 1,966 cc four-cam engine producing 130 horsepower along with ATE disc brakes, revised suspension, and dual auxiliary oil coolers. Offered in two variants—the race-oriented GT and the more luxurious GS—it was produced in extremely limited numbers, with roughly 101 Coupes and 30 Cabriolets built. The Carrera 2 was a high-performance masterpiece, blending Porsche’s racing pedigree with road-going refinement.

This 1964 356C Carrera 2 Coupe GS is one of those ~101 built. Refinished in its factory-correct Light Ivory (6404) by Rob Ida Concepts in 2021, it presents beautifully over a striking green leatherette interior with tan corduroy inserts on the seats. Under previous ownership, its replacement engine was modified in 2015 by Jeff Adams at Speedsport Tuning, with plenty of additional work performed since all making for a very nice example.

With so few built, comps are few and far between, but we have seen a handful sell over the last few years. In 2023, we saw three example cross the block with two selling at $542,081 and $637,500, both inclusive of buyer’s fees and both at legacy auctions, and one fail to sell at a final bid of $425,000. That no-sale was in fact, this car. For 2024, we only saw one example sell at $469,164 all-in at Artcurial’s sale in Monaco, and this is our first sale of 2025. Our Spotlight car sold at a final bid of $465,000, which is a bit more than it brought last time and right in line with last years sale. Fair deal both ways.
