1970 911T Coupe 5-Speed

Questions about the engine numbers kept this one in check

The 1970 911T marked a significant evolution over its predecessor with various upgrades, most notably the introduction of a more powerful 2.2-liter engine. This increase in displacement was achieved by enlarging the bore, giving the 911T a boost to 125 bhp. Other improvements included bigger valves, enhanced cooling fins, and unlike the higher-performance 911 E and 911 S models, which featured 155 bhp and 180 bhp engines respectively, the 911T came with dual Zenith carburetors.

This 1970 911T Coupe 5-Speed is finished in Conda Green over a Black leatherette interior and looks to be in pretty decent condition. Paint meter readings are even for the most part with the rear decklid and what looks like the lower valence showing some paint work. The paint has some wear here and there, but nothing more than you’d expect for a car of this vintage. Mechanically, the car looks to be well cared for with plenty of service records but there were questions around the originality of the engine as a COA wasn’t available to verify numbers. Overall, a nice long hood driver with tons of potential in a very cool color.

Average prices for 911T Coupes have averaged in the low $80k range for the last few years with a high of $171,911 achieved in March of 2023 for a very original example with quite the patina. While our car showed some “patina,” it was the questions around the engine, some non-original parts, and some shoddy paintwork on the rear decklid that kept bids from cresting the $100k mark as it sold at a final bid of $95,000. Should the buyer be able to verify the engine, this one will look well bought.
