1971 911T Targa 6-Speed

Did this previous high make new gains, or falter in a tough market?

If you want a good idea of where things stand over the last couple of days, it takes one look at cars that have previously sold to tell you all that you need to know.

This 1971 911T Targa 5-Speed sold back in October 2021 at a final bid of $132,000, which was the highest price paid for the model here in the US at the time. Originally Maroon, this 911T was refinished in Amazon Green Metallic in 2009 and again in 2014.

Since then, the Black leatherette seats were refinished, Bilstein shocks and 930 Turbo tie rod ends were added, the front control arm bushings were replaced, the carbs were repaired, and the intake trumpets were replaced along with the CDI box and ignition coil. Quite a bit of work for a car that brought a high at the time.

The market for 911T Targas has softened a bit since the car last hammered with average prices going from $75,000 in October 2021 to just under $70,000 last month, which is about where our Spotlight car ended, with a final bid of $71,000. A bit far off from that previous high.
