1973 911S Coupe 5-Speed

The last of the long hoods

Marking the end of the iconic “long hood” 911s, the 1973 911S was celebrated for its high-performance 2.4-liter flat-six engine producing 190 horsepower. Enhanced handling is achieved through a stiffer suspension with an upgraded front stabilizer and Koni shocks, which contributed to its reputation as a pure driver’s car.

This 1973 911S Coupe 5-Speed has been refinished in its original shade of Irish Green over a reupholstered Beige leatherette interior. The older repaint shows in decent condition with small bits of wear pointed out by the seller in the image gallery. The interior is nice as well showing only minimal wear and the engine was rebuilt in 2014 by the selling dealer along with service in 2022 and 2024. Overall, a better-than-driver example of one of Porsche’s best.

Over the last five years, the market for 911S’ has crept up from an average price of just over $160,000 to sit at around $180,000 today. We saw a recent high of $260,000 for a Sea Blue Olklappe car in April of last year and have seen quite a few over the $200k mark in recent months. But, the majority of these have been bid below that mark which is where this example fell at a final bid of $156,000. A little light in my opinion, and the seller agreed as they didn’t let this one go. Maybe another $10k on this one would have taken her home.
