1973.5 911T Coupe
What's in a mid-year model change?
Last week in our Analytics.SML group we discussed models with a mid-year change, such as the 1973.5 911T. While not an official year (the .5), the later 1973 911Ts differed from the earlier cars that most people often refer to them as .5. And the difference? Well, that would be 911T’s engine going from the MFI unit to a CIS engine with hydraulic based fuel injection to better meet US emission standards.
This 1973 911T Coupe is one of the later .5 cars with the CIS engine. It comes finished in Sepia Brown over a Brown leatherette interior and shows 88,000 miles on the odometer. This car is no stranger to us as it originally failed to sell at a final bid of $112,500 in October 2017 before selling to the current owner in December 2019 for $77,000.
The Sepia Brown paint looks to be in decent condition given it’s age, with the seller pointing out a few blemishes and touchups along with paint meter readings in the gallery. On the inside, the Brown leatherette interior is in good condition and the seller provides pictures of every crevice and angle possible in the listing along with pics of the service invoices for work completed since purchase.
The market for 2.4-liter 911Ts has been on the decline since peaking in the summer of 2022 with average prices going from around $100,000 to about $90k today. Our Spotlight car failed to sell at a final bid of $85,000, which even with the blemishes in the paint, should have brought more. I’d put this one at $100k-ish all day, except for yesterday apparently.
