Big Money For A '74 Carrera 2.7

For the 1974 model year, the 911 Carrera was essentially banned from the US market, with the 210 hp engine featuring mechanical fuel injection and valve timing failing to meet Federal standards. Instead, we received what is known as the Carrera 2.7 CIS. The 1974 model year also featured new seats as well as a full-width rear taillight with the Ducktail from the previous 2.7 RS was offered.

This 1974 911S Coupe is finished in Gemini Blue Metallic over Black leather with 89,000 miles shown on the odometer. The car was refurbished in 2013 with a full repaint with Porsche-script side stripes and the addition of the ducktail spoiler. The engine features dual Weber carburetors, SSI heat exchangers, and a Scart exhaust.

The car is presented in beautiful condition, with the Gemini Blue paint looking as fresh as new. The interior is clean, as is the undercarriage and engine bay. A binder full of service invoices shows the work completed during the 2013 refurbishment and plenty of recent service history, and the pictures show the results of a leak-down test.

The market for Carrera 2.7s has been on a steady rise over the last five years, with average prices sitting just over $50,000 and a high sale of $142,240 for a 4,300-mile example sold in Monterey this year. Our Spotlight car sold at the second-highest price in the last five years at $113,000. While it is a beautiful example, it looks like two bidders just had to have Gemini Blue. Well sold here.
