1976 914

We last saw this final-year 914 at the peak of the market. And now...

Introduced in 1968 for the 1969 model year, the 914 was a joint venture between Volkswagen and Porsche, with VW needing a range-topping sports car and Porsche a new entry-level car to replace the outgoing 912. Over the years the 914 went through a number of engine and body-style changes to meet ever-growing regulations, with the final version in 1976 featuring heavy, rubber-covered bumpers and an emissions-choked 2.0-liter four.

This 1976 914 is one such final-year 2.0-liter example and showed 56,000 miles on the odometer. Finished in Ivory White over a Black vinyl interior, this 914 2.0 remained with its original owner until being acquired by the current owner on Bring a Trailer in February of 2022. Overall, the car looks to be in very nice condition with plenty of pictures in the gallery, but the listing didn’t include service records.

When it last sold in 2022, we were nearing the peak of the Porsche market, with averages hovering around $30,000 and a handful of cars topping the $100,000 mark. Our Spotlight car did quite well back then, selling at a final bid of $45,000. Since then, prices have dropped by about $6,000, but this one chopped a bit more off than that, selling at a final bid of $36,000. Fair deal in today’s market.
