1980 911SC Targa
How did this car not make an all time high!?
When I first saw this 1980 911SC Targa last week, I called “all-time high” as this example is not only finished in a stunning color combination of Casablanca Beige Metallic over Brown leather, but also has just 13,336 miles on the odometer.
The original owner purchased this car new in California and kept if for 42 years with it sitting in storage from 1997 until they decided to resurrect it in 2019 with a full service to the tune of $12,288 in order to get the car sorted and ready to drive. In 2022, the original owner sold the car to a close family friend who never registered the car and added less than 1,000 miles during their stewardship. In preparation for the sale, the current “second” owner performed more service as well as dry ice cleaning of the underside and engine compartment to present this gorgeous car in its best light.
911SC Targas have been on the rise over the last twelve months going from an average price of around $40,000 to just over $50,000 today. In that time we’ve seen a high of $78,500 for a very nice 79,000-mile example finished in Petrol Blue Metallic, and if you look back further, we’ve seen a five-year high of $130,000 for an 8,322-mile car in October of 2022.
Our Spotlight car failed to sell at a final bid of $105,000, but it currently sits in PCARMARKET’s Deal Tank with a Buy Now of $130,000. While it wouldn’t set a new high, it would tie it. And although this example has a few more miles, it’s in a much better color combination, and as we know if Porsche-world, color can out-weigh miles any day of the week. Someone hit that Buy Now, as in my opinion, that’s a good price.
