1980 911SC Weissach Edition

Weissach had a totally different meaning in the 1980s

These days, a 911 with “Weissach” in its description means that it has been upgraded with plenty of carbon-fiber and other lightweight, racier components. But back in 1980, Weissach meant that the 911 was one of 468 special editions painted in either Metallic Black or Platinum Metallic with Doric Grey leather with Burgundy piping. These cars also included a different front lip on the front, whale tail rear spoiler, Bilstein dampers, and Fuchs wheels. All of this made for a special, and limited car.

This 1980 911SC Weissach Edition is finished in Black Metallic with the aforementioned interior and shows 92,000 miles on the odometer. The car shows some wear on the outside including missing paint on the sunroof panel, various scratches and dings, and has had its engine cover repainted under previous ownership. On the inside, the Doric Grey leather looks pretty worn with a tear in the drivers seat, plenty of cracking in the leather, and a torn headliner. The gallery did a good job presenting the car very honestly and the seller included service records and parts receipts with the latest being from earlier this month. A bit rough around the edges, but nothing that can’t be addressed.

The overall 911SC market has slipped just a tad over the last twelve months going from an average price of ~$61,000 earlier this year to $57,000 today. Weissach cars are few and far between though with only two other comps sold in the past twelve months. One, a 51k-mile example that sold for $80,640 and the other, an 85k-mile car that hammered for $57,911, both in Platinum Metallic. Given that this Weissach Edition hammered at a final bid of $70,000 and was the highest mileage of the bunch, showed a bit of wear, and was Black Metallic, I’d say this one was well sold.
