1981 911SC Coupe
A solid result thanks to an interesting color combo
The 911SC marked a significant shift from its predecessor by prioritizing durability, reliability, and accessibility without compromising performance. The SC featured a more robust 3.0-liter flat-six with Bosch K-jetronic fuel injection for smoother operation and a fully galvanized body, making it a more durable choice for everyday driving. Additionally, refinements in suspension and wider rear tires improved handling, making the SC more predictable and enjoyable for a broader range of drivers. This model was a turning point, establishing the 911 as a practical yet thrilling sports car and setting the stage for the 911’s evolution in the ‘80s.
This 97,000-mile 1981 911SC Coupe was refinished in a lovely shade of Bamboo Beige in 2009 and features a Brown leather interior with Black seat inserts. The paint and interior still look be in good condition from the photos in the gallery and the car appears to be sorted mechanically as recent service receipts indicate. Overall, a solid car in a great color combination.
SC Coupe prices have softened a bit over the past twelve months with average prices going from about $61,500 to $55,800 today. During that time we’ve seen a couple sales over the $100k mark with the most recent being a 12,000-mile example that hammered at $123,000 in April of this year. At a final bid of $73,000, our Spotlight car beat the average and was up there with the best of the 80k+ mileage examples on offer recently. A solid result thanks to the color combo.
