1984 911 Turbo Coupe Slantnose
This Special Wishes 930 was the deal of the week
The original idea for Porsche’s Slantnose 930 came from Kremer Racing, who offered conversion kits for 930 Turbos giving them the aerodynamic “Slantnose” of their 935 race cars. Taking Kremer’s lead, Porsche began to offer Slantnose bodywork through their Sonderwunsch program in 1981, but only by special invite. But after enough clamoring from customers, Porsche decided to make the Slantnose an option for series production in 1987, and thus, the M505 was born.
This 911 Turbo falls into the “Special Wishes” Slantnose bucket, as it is a 1984 model year. It is finished in Grand Prix White with a Black Leather interior and features 16” BBS wheels, Recaro Idealsitz C front seats, and comes to market after 31 years of ownership through the Mohr Imports UpShift Collection with 83,000 miles on the odometer.
The exterior of the car presents in very nice condition with minor imperfections in the paint. The seller notes that the front bumper was refinished in 2007 and a replacement passenger side mirror was installed last year. The interior is in good condition as well with some wear shown on the dashpad, but that is easily overlooked by the on-so-80s Recaro seats.
The listing includes plenty of detailed photographs along with paint meter readings and shows plenty of service history with the most recent being an oil change last year. The sale includes a full set of books and two keys, although I don’t see a tool roll, that’s replaceable with a little searching and patience. Overall, a very nice example of an early Special Wishes Slantnose.
Sales of Slantnose 930s appear to have peaked at the end of 2022, beginning of 2023 with most cars closing above the $200,000 average. Our Spotlight car, the first to sell this year, found a new home at a final bid of $151,111. While 930 Slantnose cars have been softening over the last six months, $115k for an early non-M505 car seems like a very good deal to me. Well bought.
