1986 911 Carrera Coupe 5-Speed
Brodbeck's one-of-one Carrera brings the bids
If the name Tilman Brodbeck doesn’t ring a bell, I’m sure one of his iconic inventions does, as we have Mr. Brodbeck to thank for the development of the ducktail spoiler found on the 911 Carrera RS 2.7. Among his other duties during his long career at Porsche, he was the project manager for the bodywork of the 924 and the head of Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur department from 1995 until 2000.
This 1986 911 Carrera Coupe 5-Speed was Brodbeck’s company vehicle, but it wasn’t just any 911 pulled off of the assembly line. He commissioned this car in Paint to Sample Light Pearl Yellow over a Hannibal Grey Leather to Sample interior. Other Sonderwunsch touches include color-matched Fuchs whels, a unique center console, under-dash storage compartments, an earlier-style steering wheel, extended leather trim, and sport seats with custom-upholstered centers and embroidered Ferry Porsche signatures.
The exterior of the car presents in very nice condition as does the interior. The seller notes paintwork on the left-rear quarter panel but further paint meter readings are not provided in the gallery. Mechanically, the car has been well sorted with the selling dealer performing an. engine-out service in 2023 in preparation for the sale and includes pictures of said work in the gallery. A stunning one-of-one Carrera 3.2 with quite the story.
Carrera 3.2-liters have held fairly steady over the last twelve months at an average price of just over $80,000. We saw a high of $207,200 back in December of last year for the 10,800-mile example at The White Collection. Aside from that car, higher sales have been in the $140k range, which is right where this example ended up with a final bid of $138,996. 100% worth the price paid here IMO as you won’t find another like it.
