1987 928 S4 5-Speed
Two owners and a great service history helped this 928 jump the pack
The 1987 Porsche 928 S4 was a groundbreaking evolution of Porsche's grand tourer, combining refined luxury with impressive performance. Powered by an upgraded 5.0-liter V8 engine producing 316 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque, it could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds and reach a top speed of over 165 mph. Aerodynamic enhancements, including a redesigned front bumper and integrated rear wing, improved stability and efficiency. Standard advanced technology like Bosch LH-Jetronic fuel injection, a sophisticated engine management system, and anti-lock brakes (ABS) showcased Porsche's commitment to innovation, making the S4 a perfect blend of speed and handling.
This two-owner 1987 928 S4 5-Speed was purchased by the seller in 2014 and currently shows 64,000 miles on the odometer. The car wears Silver Metallic paint over a Black leather interior and looks to be in very good condition as evidenced by hundreds of detailed photos in the gallery. Also included in the gallery are a pile of service records, a benefit of minimal, long-term ownership.
Manual S4s peaked towards the end of 2023 with average prices around the $40,000 mark and a high sale of $112,000 for a 12k-mile car from The White Collection. Since then, prices have softened just a tad with averages sitting around $37k today. Our Spotlight car may have had average mileage, but it sold at an above average price of $40,250. Fair deal for a nice example with a great service history.
