1987 944S 5-Speed Track Car
A great car for a great cause
I 1,000% support bidding an obscene amount of money for this 1987 944S 5-Speed Track Car as all of the proceeds and Bring a Trailer fee go to Madison Automotive Apprentices (MAAP).
MAAP is an organization that fosters careers in automotive for college students at James Madison University by offering students opportunities in automobile restoration, preservation, and motorsports. And it’s a very special organization to the Whitlock family as MAAP students are currently restoring of my father’s 1968 911S Targa.
One of the “gripes” I hear all of the time from collectors is “who’s going to restore cars in the future? Kids these days just aren’t into it.” So when it came time to choose a restoration shop for my father’s 911, I told him it’s time to put his money where his mouth is and have the car done at MAAP. The kids at MAAP aren’t just “into it,” they produce award winning restorations, including a Restoration Class-winning 356 that I judged at Porsche Parade some years ago.
So if you’ve been looking for a track toy, please consider this 944S as I assure you it’s probably one of the best setup 944s you’ll come across. Also, having 8-time Champion team owner and IMSA strategist Cole Scrogham running the program doesn’t hurt either. Now let’s run up these bids!
