1988 911 Coupe Commemorative Edition

A solid deal for a special 911

The 911 Carrera Coupe Commemorative Edition was a special model designed to celebrate both Ferry Porsche’s 75th birthday and the milestone of the 250,000th 911 built. Limited to just 875 units, this edition featured exclusive Diamond Blue Metallic paint along with body-colored Fuchs alloy wheels. The interior boasted Silver Blue Metallic Supple Leather with Ferry Porsche’s signature on the headrest, and a commemorative plaque to mark the occasion.

This Swedish-market 1988 911 Carrera Coupe Commemorative Edition was imported to the US in 2023 and shows 84,000km (~52k miles) on the odometer. The Diamond Blue Metallic paint is in very nice condition but paint meter readings show some paintwork on the left front along with the rear decklid. On the inside, the Supple Leather appears to be in good condition as well showing normal creasing and a few nicks on high touch points such as the passenger arm rest.

Mechanically the car appears to be well sorted with service stamps in the books along with recent work completed in 2023 including new tires, new brake calipers and brake fluid flush, sunroof repair, and the replacement of the front and rear window moldings along with an oil change. Overall a very well-presented example of a beautiful, and rare edition of the 911.

Over the last twelve months, we’ve seen a number of Commemorative Edition Coupes sell from the mid $70’s all the way to a high of $140,000 for a 23,000-mile example in September of last year. Our Spotlight car sold at a final bid of $93,000, which seems like a fairly good deal when you consider those cars in the $70’s had over 100,000 miles on the odometer. Even with a touch of paintwork, well bought.
