1988 911 Turbo Targa

This rare bird sold for more than even the seller expected

Of all the body variants of 911 Turbos offered over the years, the Targa is the rarest, as it was only offered for a three-year period during the end of the 930 production run. In all, roughly 650 930 Targas were produced between 1987 and 1989 with just over half coming to the US, making Turbo Targas rare as hen’s teeth.

This 1988 911 Turbo Targa came finished in Venetian Blue Metallic over a Blue leather interior and showed 60,000 miles on the odometer. The car looked to be in very nice condition although it did show some paintwork on the hood and had service history from the current owner, with receipts from 2023-2024. A rare one in an even rarer color combination.

With so few built, comps are few and far between, as only twelve examples have crossed the block in the last five years, this one included, and only half have been on offer here in the states. It sold at a final bid of $226,000, which was more than a few comps with less miles, and even more than what the dealer had been asking for the car on their website. Well sold.
