1988 911 Turbo Targa

Prices have risen since the last time we saw this rare Targa. What happened?

For the 1987 model year, Porsche expanded the 930 Turbo lineup to include Targa and Cabriolet body styles, alongside the original Coupe. Updates for this year included a redesigned rear reflector strip that integrated fog and reverse lights, previously located under the bumper. Interior upgrades made fully electric seats standard, and brake cooling was improved with beveled vents. By 1988, Porsche further enhanced the 930 with a passenger door mirror and an eight-speaker stereo system as standard features.

This 1988 911 Turbo is the Targa variant, of which just over 140 were produced for North America during the 930s run. Finished in Guards Red over a Black leather interior, the car features a Black roof panel, Heated Sport Seats, and a Porsche Classic stereo. The car looks to be in very good condition with some minor wear pointed out in the gallery and includes even paint meter readings and plenty of recent service work including rebuilding the turbocharger, installing a replacement clutch kit and axle, converting the air conditioning to R134a refrigerant, and repairing engine seal leaks as well as the odometer, which shows 65,000 miles.

The last time we saw this Turbo Targa was in May of 2018 when it sold at a final bid of $150,000. Since then, prices have jumped considerably to well over $200k today. But bids for this 930 Targa didn’t follow suit as it failed to sell at a final bid of $170,000. Easily at least $40k short of touching the reserve here. Better luck next time.
