1989 911 Carrera 3.2 Coupe 5-Speed
A single-family owned example brings the money
1989 was the end of the road for Porsche’s “classic” 911 as they moved to the 964 and beyond. The final year offered a culmination of improvements which included significant changes to the engine and gearbox in 1987, larger anti-roll bars in 1988, and bigger Fuchs wheels and an even thicker anti-roll bar in 1989, making it the one to have.
This final-year 1989 911 Carrera 3.2 Coupe 5-Speed has been with the same family since new and came finished in Black with Black-centered 16” Fuchs and a Black leather interior. The car showed just 27,000 miles on the odometer and looked every-bit a low mileage example in the hundreds of photos in the gallery which included plenty of detailed photos, service records, and a paint meter “map,” which showed possible paint on just the hood. Add to that some stunning photography, and we have ourselves a winner.
Average 3.2-liter Coupe prices have been just over $81,000 over the last twelve months with a high of $235,200 for a 13,000-mile 1985 example finished in Paint-to-Sample Glacier Blue. This ‘89 3.2 had a lot going for it, and it showed in the bids as it hammered at a big bid of $138,000. With other low-mileage examples showing similar results, I’d call this one a fair deal for a very nice car.
