1989 911 Carrera 4 Coupe Modified
Was the price paid here more than the sum of its parts?
While names like Singer and Gunther Werks sit at the top of the resto-mod food chain, there are plenty of builders out there creating some very cool cars like this 1989 911 Carrera 4 Coupe. This particular example was acquired by its owner in 2017 and was immediately put under the knife to create the excellent build we have here.
The exterior consists of flared fenders and smooth bumpers and is painted in a lovely shade of Cream with a White stripe and Orange Porsche lettering on the side. Details include a center-mounted fuel filler cap and fender mounted oil filler along with projector-style headlights and bullet-style mirrors.
On the inside you’ll find Braum carbon-fiber bucket seats trimmed in Espresso Nappa leather with matching basket-weave upholstery and Cream microsuede headliner. A MOMO Prototipo steering wheel with brown stitching, VDO instruments with an Orange tachometer, and wood shift knob complete the look.
Powering the car is a 3.8-liter flat-six built by Avus Autosport. It consists of porting and polishing replacement cylinder heads, fitting a high-performance valve spring and retainer set, installing high-performance fuel injectors, replacing various hoses and seals, and adding a high-performance tune.
With work totaling over $210,000, the hammer price of $331,000 seems like quite the return for the seller, and is higher than other custom 911 Carreras we’ve seen over the past few years. Well sold for a very well done build. But I’m sure the new owner will enjoy all of the work and effort put into this one.
