1989 911 Speedster

Did Porsche-legend ownership push this Speedster to new highs?

Two-time World Rally Champion, German rally driver Walter Röhrl, has a long-standing involvement with Porsche as a test driver and brand ambassador, playing a key role in the development of iconic models like the 959 and high-performance 911 variants, including the GT3 and GT2. So it is no surprise that his 1989 Speedster would bring top-dollar.

Originally a California-car, this 1989 911 Speedster was imported into Germany in 2009 where it was previously owned by Röhrl. Finished in Black over a Leather to Sample Red interior, the car now shows 24,000 miles on the clock and is offered by the selling dealer, back in California. The car looks to be in very good condition as evidenced by hundreds of detailed photos in the gallery that include plenty of service records and other documentation, including photos of Röhrl.

After quite the rise from 2019 to 2023, Carrera 3.2 Speedsters have evened off over the last two years with averages just below the $220,000 mark. Our Spotlight car sold at a final bid of $272,000, which is the second highest price achieved for an example with over 20,000 miles in the past twelve months. While the car looked to be in very nice condition, legendary ownership definitely helped here. Solid sale.
