1989 911 Turbo Cabriolet M505

How did this 930 Turbo fare after a strong Monterey for Slant Nose Cabs?

1989 represents the final year for Porsche’s 930 and featured the desirable G50 5-speed transmission, which was was offered for only this final model year in the Turbo. Among the rarest configurations is the M505 Slant Nose option, a special factory design inspired by Porsche’s legendary 935 race cars. With only around 147 Slant Nose Cabriolets produced for the US market, this version combines exclusivity, improved performance, and iconic styling.

This 1989 911 Turbo Cabriolet sports the M505 option and comes to market with just 9,828 miles after passing through just two owners during its life. Originally delivered to Monaco, this 930 is in exceptionally original condition and has been obsessively preserved by its second owner since 2008. Finished in Guards Red with painted wheels and a Black full leather interior with Red piping, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better example.

Over the last twelve months, M505 Slant Nose Cabriolets have averaged just over $280,000, although we saw two examples sell above that average at Monterey in August. One, a 20,000-mile example, sold at $291,000 all-in and the other, an 8,300-mile example, brought a twelve-month high of $390k. Our Spotlight car was bid to $300,000, where it failed to sell against its $350-425,000 estimate. A light bid considering the mileage and condition, I would have passed as well.
