1989 911 Turbo Coupe M505
All the right options, but higher miles. Did they even matter?
If the 1989 911 Turbo is the “one to have” due to its single-model-year-only G50 transmission, this 1989 911 Turbo Coupe M505 is the one of the one to have with its Slant Nose bodywork.
This 1989 911 Turbo Coupe M505 is finished in Slate Grey Metallic over a Can Can Red Supple Leather interior and shows 190,000 miles on the odometer. Holy miles Batman! The exterior paint has been refinished at some point and still looks pretty good as evidenced by the multitude of photographs in the gallery. The interior has been re-trimmed as well and the car has been fitted with a Blaupunkt stereo with aftermarket speakers.
The engine was rebuilt in 2006 with a Borg Warner K27 turbocharger added at the time and recent service includes rebuilding the fuel pumps and replacing the spark plugs, an oil hose, AC hoses, the drier, and the battery. It has high miles, but quite a bit of work to get it to the condition we see here today.
Average prices have pushed up to above $210,000 thanks to some recent higher sales including the White ‘89 M505 that sold in June for $500,000 with less than 1,000 miles. Cars with over 100k miles are few and far between but we did see an ‘87 114k-mile car sell for $90,250 back in February of last year. Our Spotlight car sold at a strong final bid of $177,930, putting it in the realm of cars with far less mileage. Yes, this 930 has been extensively reconditioned, but those miles. Well sold.
