1990 911 Carrera 2 Coupe Modified
Quality work for a very nice price

When I featured this backdated 1990 911 Carrera 2 Coupe 6-Speed last week, I hadn’t heard of Lightspeed Classic in Munich, Germany. But after going down the rabbit hole, whoa, do they build some crazy 964s, especially their 3.8-liter RSR build.
This 1990 911 Carrera 2 Coupe is one of their 3.8-liter RS builds, which is no slouch as it produces 320 ps (~315) horsepower thanks to a revised intake manifold, pistons, cylinders, camshafts, and a beautifully fabricated exhaust system. Wrapping that engine is a body finished in Signal Yellow over custom carbon-fiber bodywork. On the inside, the the front buckets have been refinished in Black leather with houndstooth inserts, Numeric Racing shifter assembly, a Porsche Classic head unit, and MOMO Prototipo steering wheel. But it’s also the inside that needs a little work, as it appears the adhesive holding down some of the leather and other fabrics has let go a bit. Nothing a quality interior shop can’t address though.
When it comes to (non-Singer) modified 964s, we’ve seen quality builds powered by 3.8-liter engines sell in the mid to upper $200,000 range with one example crossing $300k to hammer at $331,000 back in January of last year. In all honesty, I would have pegged this one to be up there as well, but it sold at a final bid of $235,000. A deal for this work of art in my eyes.
