1991 911 Turbo

Top dollar for a great color, despite the market

While the new 964 Turbo was a huge leap in design over the 930 Turbo it replaced in 1990, it still carried the previous generation’s 3.3-liter engine as Porsche wasn’t quite ready with their new power unit at launch. The engine did feature a number of upgrades, though, increasing power to 320 bhp and torque to 362 ft/lbs making this the most powerful of the single-turbos from Porsche in the long production run.

This 61,000-mile 1991 911 Turbo is finished in a stunning Korallen Red Metallic over White leather and shows just over 61,000 miles on the odometer. From the pictures, the paint and interior both look to be in very nice condition although no paint meter readings are present in the limited photos. But being sold at Mecum, that is to be expected from an in-person auction. Service history is a guess as well but the car does include a large binder, which I assume has all of the docs. I guess you had to be there.

The market for early 3.3-liter 964 Turbos has flatted over recent months with the average selling price hovering at just below the $200,000 mark, up considerably (and consistently) over the last five years. Our Spotlight Turbo sold at a final bid of $190,000, while at about average, is in the top of the mileage range. Well sold and a stunning car. I would have paid top dollar too.
