1992 911 Carrera 2 Targa 5-Speed
This one brought the money despite the CarFax and mods. But was it enough?

Porsche’s 964 was the final model to wear the classic Targa top, first introduced in 1965. With the threat of Cabriolets being banned in the United States, Porsche was the first manufacturer to introduce a “Safety Cabriolet” by adding a fixed safety roll bar on what otherwise looks like a Cabriolet body. Early Targas had a roof panel and removable rear window, but that quickly changed to glass and continued all the way through to the 964.
This 1992 911 Carrera 2 Targa 5-Speed came finished in Black Metallic over a reupholstered Classic Cognac leather interior with Pepita inserts that extend to the dash and door cards. Other modifications on this 61,000-mile Targa include 18” wheels with a lowered suspension featuring adjustable Ohlins coilovers along with LED headlights, a MOMO Indy steering wheel, and a Fister exhaust. The CarFax shows a minor incident in 2020 and a recent mileage inconsistency that looks to be a clerical error, but has had plenty of service work completed recently.
Its been a few months since we’ve seen a 964 Targa cross the block with the last sale of $150,000 setting a new twelve-month high last October. Averages, however, have been closer to the $80,000 mark during that time with one other car breaking the $100k mark. Our Spotlight car broke that barrier at a final bid of $102,000, but failed to sell. That number was right up there with recent comps and a solid bid considering the CarFax and modifications. Should have sold.
