1992 911 Carrera 2 Targa 5-Speed
Where have all the 964s gone?

Porsche’s 964 was a significant leap forward from the G-Body 911 it replaced, introducing modern engineering while preserving the classic 911 styling. It featured a redesigned chassis with coil springs and dampers, replacing the outdated torsion bar suspension for improved ride comfort and handling. Powered by a 3.6-liter flat-six producing 247 horsepower, the 964 offered smoother performance and greater reliability and was the first 911 to include anti-lock brakes and power-assisted steering, making it more user-friendly without sacrificing its iconic driving character.
This 1992 911 Carrera 2 Targa 5-Speed came finished in Velvet Red Metallic paint with a Black Targa bar and showed 73,000 miles on the odometer. It looked to be in decent enough condition but showed signs of previous paintwork that looks to be fading in some spots. On the inside, the Black leather interior showed normal wear but overall looks well-kept. Mechanically, this Targa has been maintained with work in 2022 consisting of replacing the distributor cap, fuel filter, air filter, and decklid struts. The gallery features plenty of detailed photos, showing an honest driver of a 964.
964s have been few and far between this year with only a handful of non-Turbo and non-Singer cars crossing the block. This Targa is only the second car at auction since October of last year with the only other example being a 61,000-mile example that failed to sell at a final bid of $102,000 a few weeks ago. With averages hovering around $83,000 over the last twelve months, our Spotlight car sold at a final bid of $78,000. About right for the condition. Fair deal for a decent driver.
