1992 928 GTS 5-Speed

Will we ever see a low-mileage GTS sale again?

Low-mileage 5-speed 928 GTS were hotter than hot mid-2022 through mid-2023 with a number of cars with around 20,000-miles selling for $200,000+. Since then, however, manual GTS of all ilk have been a tough sell as only one example has sold at auction in the US in 2024, a 54k-mile Black example with a crazy Magenta interior that hammered at $121k in January.

This 1992 928 GTS 5-Speed is finished in Polar Silver over a Marine Blue leather interior and shows just 37,000 km (~23k miles) on the odometer. Imported into the US in 2024, this Austrian-example came equipped with Heated Supple Leather Seats and a Sunroof.

The paint appears to be in good condition from the limited number of photos in the gallery but also shows signs of paintwork from the included paint meter readings. The Marine Blue interior is very nice as well as is the engine bay and undercarriage. Service-wise, the car shows stamps in the maintenance books as well as some receipts in German (I think).

Our Spotlight car failed to sell at a final bid of $116,000, joining the list of no-sales this year. A far cry from prices achieved during the surge, and a little light compared to bids on a few comps with higher mileage. I’d attribute this to the lack of photos in the gallery, and paintwork. The slump continues.
