1993 928 GTS 5-Speed

Porsche's final crack at the 928 was one of the best, but with higher mileage, how did this one fare?

As the last evolution of the car that was to replace Porsche’s 911, the 928 GTS was a heck of a way to end production as it featured flared rear wheel arches to accommodate larger wheels and a wider track and was the most powerful 928 built with its 5.4-liter V8 producing 345 horsepower.

This 1993 928 GTS is finished in Black over a Black Supple Leather interior sports an all-important 5-speed manual transmission and shows 67,000 miles on the odometer. The Black paint appears to be in very good condition with only minor wear shown from the pictures in the gallery, and on the inside, the Black Supple Leather is in good condition with your typical wear on the bolsters and high-touch points.

Mechanically the car looks to be well-sorted as the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder were replaced in 2020, along with a timing belt service in 2020, and battery replacement in 2023. A solid example of the top-of-the-line 928.

Over the last twelve months 5-speed 928 GTS have averaged just shy of the $140,000 mark with a high sale of $268,800 (all-in) for a 19,500-mile example sold at RM Sotheby’s Monterey sale. Mileage-wise, our Spotlight car was on the higher side, so a final bid around $100,000 was where this one should have landed, and it did, at a final bid of $102,000. But it wasn’t enough for the seller to let her go. I’m guessing we were right there, probably should have dropped the reserve after they crossed the $100k mark to stir things up a bit.
