1994 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet Modified

A 993 Turbo Cabriolet that's not $1m

1995, prior to the Coupe. The Turbo Cab. was a unique creation blending the narrow-body Carrara Cabriolet with widened wheel arches, the single-turbocharged 3.6-liter engine, brakes, and wheels from the 964 Turbo, and the X93 rear spoiler. While the 993 Turbo Coupe went on to become an icon, the ultra-rare Cabriolet remains a fascinating footnote in Porsche history - one that technically never existed in the official model lineup.

This 1995 993, is NOT one of those cars. Instead, it is the work of a passionate individual who went to town on a Carrera 4 Cabriolet to build their own version of Porsche’s 993 unicorn. Refinished in its original shade of Midnight Blue, this 993 utilizes a 993 turbo-sourced wing, bumper covers, and rear quarter panels. It was powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter, which differs from the original, and has been modified with a single-mass flywheel, K24 turbocharger compressor wheels, oversized exhaust valves, and an engine-to-clutch adapter fabricated by TurboKraft.

The car rides on 18” Hollow-spoke Turbo wheels with a suspension modified with a front shock tower brace, Bilstein PSS9 coilovers, adjustable rear toe links, and 993 Turbo “Big Red” brake calipers. On the inside you’ll find Black leather Sport Seats with painted backs along with painted trim panels, aluminum pedal covers, and a Rootwood shift knob. An excellent job recreating one of Porsche’s rarest.

With ZERO comps to go by, where this one would end was anyone’s guess. But we knew it was going to sell as it was a no reserve auction. Had this been your standard 993 C4 Cab., it would probably be worth somewhere around $40,000 with the 157k miles on the clock. And the cost to build was absolutely north of $100,000. So for this to sell at a final bid of $108,000, someone got a decent deal if they were considering building one on their own. Well done for both parties.
