1994 911 Carrera 4 Widebody 5-Speed
With higher mileage and modifications, how did this rare WTL handle the market?
The 1994 911 Carrera 4 Widebody, also known as the 964 Carrera 4 WTL, is a rare and desirable model distinguished by its aggressive “Turbo Look” design, featuring flared wheel arches and a wider rear stance reminiscent of the 964 Turbo. Only 267 of these special widebody cars were produced for the North American market, making them highly sought after.
This 1994 911 Carrera 4 Widebody 5-Speed is finished in Midnight Blue Metallic over a Gray leather interior and has been modified with a RUF front lip, Öhlins coilovers, a RUF strut-tower brace, an Elephant Racing bump-steer kit, “Big Black” brake calipers, a three-spoke ClubSport steering wheel, heated sport seats, and a Porsche Classic head unit.
With 73,000 miles on the odometer, the paint shows some wear in the way of stone chips and the right-side rocker panel is warped a bit. The front end of the car also appears to have some paintwork as paint meeter readings are a bit high. On the inside, the Gray leather interior shows minor wear consistent with age and milage. Mechanically, the car has been well maintained with plenty of service history including a rebuilt transaxle with shorter gear rations and a new clutch, slave cylinder, and flywheel.
So far this year we’ve only seen one Widebody 964 sell out of the four on offer with that car being a Black 57,000-mile example that hammered at $200,964 back in January of this year. The closest comp to our Spotlight car is a 64,000-mile Jubilee Edition that failed to sell at a final bid of $142,013 in August. Our Spotlight Widebody achieved a high bid of $155,000, which was a reasonable bid, especially for the mileage and condition. It looks like Widebody owners just aren’t willing to part with their car as we add another one to the no-sale bucket.
