1994 911 Turbo 3.6

How many times can we feature this Turbo 3.6?

By March of 1990, the development of a turbocharged version of Porsche’s new M64 engine had fallen behind. To not delay the launch of the all-new 964 Turbo, the 3.3-liter from the previous 930 generation was tweaked and reused. But by 1993, the 3.6 liter M64 was ready. Featuring KKK K27 turbocharges, the new power unit produced 355 bhp and 384 lb-ft of torque. Only offered for two model years, roughly 1,500 3.6-liter 964 Turbos were built, making it one of the rarest standard Turbo models Porsche had produced thus far.

This 1994 911 Turbo 3.6 is finished in Amethyst Metallic over Classic Gray partial leather and shows just 21,000 miles on the odometer. Optional equipment includes 18” Polished Wheels, a 6 Disc CD Changer, and a Sunroof, and it is now fitted with a Porsche Classic head unit.

As you would expect from such a low mileage example, the paintwork is absolutely flawless, with the rear stone guards having been replaced in 2022 and even paint meter readings shown in the gallery. The Classic Gray leather is just as clean. As is the engine bay and undercarriage. A prime example of a collector-grade 964 Turbo 3.6.

And “collected” this car has been as this is now the third time we’ve featured this particular Turbo in the last thirteen months. We first saw this car in October 2022, selling for $401,000. By January, it was back at auction, where it hammered down at $401,000 for a second time. This time, however, it sold at a high bid of $395,000.

Yes, the seller lost a few thousand dollars, but I wouldn’t start screaming, “The sky is falling” on 964 Turbos. A ~2% dip in price is hardly a market shift. The market is steady for collector-grade examples, and I believe it will continue for the foreseeable future—a fair deal for both parties.
