1994 911 Turbo 3.6

One lucky bidder gets to cosplay their Mike Lowrey fantasies

At the initial introduction of the 964 Turbo in 1990, a turbocharged version of their M64 engine was behind, so they chose to reuse the 3.3-liter from the outgoing 930. It wasn’t until 1993 that the 3.6-liter was launched, but it was worth the wait, as the new engine produced 355 bhp and 384 lb-ft of torque. Because the engine was so late in development and only used for model years 1993 and 1994, fewer than 1,500 units were produced, making the Turbo 3.6 one of the rarest Turbos today.

Today’s Spotlight car, this 1994 911 Turbo 3.6, comes to market after 21 years of ownership and is finished in Black over a Black Full Leather interior and shows 69,000 miles on the odometer. Along with the Full Leather, the car sports a Power Sunroof and Supple Leather seats in the rear for an original MSRP of $105,776.

The Black paint is in very good condition, as evident from the load of photos in the gallery. The provided paint meter readings show paintwork on the front hood and fenders, with the rest of the car metering out evenly. The interior is in good condition as well, with just the front seats showing normal signs of creasing.

The engine has been fitted with a Kokeln Racing turbocharger, a 1-bar waste-gate spring, an aluminum scavenge pump, and a GHL stainless-steel exhaust system. It looks to be well sorted from the provided service records. Of note, though, is a repair to the odometer in the records, but there is no mention of the car being TMU (True Mileage Unknown) in the listing.

The market for Turbo 3.6s has taken off since 2022, with average prices gaining about $100,000 and sitting around $350k today, with a twelve-month high of $555,000 for a 16,000-mile example sold during RM’s Monterey sale this year. With higher-than-average mileage, modifications, and paintwork, our Spotlight car hammered at a final bid of $320,000. It's just shy of current averages, but it's a decent sale that both parties should be happy with. Now if it includes the “BADBOYS” Florida license plate, I’d say this one was well bought.
