1997 911 Carrera S Coupe Vesuvio Edition 6-Speed

Now taking bets on final bids

The 1997 911 Carrera S Vesuvio Edition stands out for its exclusive Vesuvio Metallic paint, a unique color that shifts between Purple, Grey, and Brown depending on the light. Complementing this striking color are Steel Grey mirror caps and hollow-spoke “Technology” wheels. With only 60 units produced, the Vesuvio Edition remains a rare, and coveted model among Porsche collectors.

This 1997 911 Carrera S Coupe Vesuvio Edition 6-Speed shows 118,000 km (~73k miles) on the odometer and looks to be in good condition from the hundreds of photos presented in the gallery. Paint meter readings do show signs of paintwork but the car has had a ton of mechanical work since being purchased by the selling dealer in 2024. A very nice example, although I’d want a closer look to make sure the paintwork was just superficial.

I made a gentleman’s bet with an SML reader at Boardwalk Reunion last weekend as to where this car would land. I had it pegged at $170k while Chuck was at $200k. Over the last few years, we’ve seen prices from $173,000 to a high of $245,000 off of a handful of cars, with our Spotlight car selling at a final bid of $185,000. A solid result, and pretty much on the money for the miles. And if we were playing with “Price is Right” rules, I’m taking the win on that bet. 😆
