1997 911 Turbo Modified
A what? Sold for what!!!?
24 hours ago I had no idea what a Kaege Retro 911 was. From first glance, it looks like your average run-of-the-mill backdated 911. And then you see the auction title: 1997 911 Turbo. Wait a sec, that looks nothing like a 993, let alone a Turbo. Well, that would be because Kaege Retro uses state-of-the-art carbon fiber components to mate the design language of a classic F body to the power and handling of a 993 Turbo.
This example was modified by Kaege Retro in 2020 and comes finished in a White exterior with Green stripes. The body has been completely reworked in carbon-fiber with styling cues from a 70s 911 RS. The interior features Recaro Pole Position seats trimmed in Nephrite Green with white Pepita inserts. Other equipment on the inside includes a padded Heigo roll bar, German Maestro speakers, and a whole lot of other custom work. Out back, the 3.6-liter flat-six was originally optioned with Porsche’s X50 Power Kit and was modified by Kaege Retro with an ECU tune and revised cooling system for a reported 510 horsepower.
The car looks absolutely immaculate in the pictures and my favorite shots are from underneath, where you can see all of the carbon-fiber work. The quality of the build looks to be up there with the best-of-the-best when it comes to the modified Porsche world, and it achieved BOTB money, selling at a final bid of $1,177,777. At that price, you’re at 4.0-liter Singer money. Singer or Kaege Retro? I’d have to see one in person. But my interest is definitely piqued. Amazing.
