1998 Boxster 5-Speed
Is there a better way to spend $20k? Doubt it.

Making its debut as a concept in 1993, Porsche’s Boxster was their entry-level model, but unlike the 968 it replaced in that slot, it sold like hot cakes and has enjoyed an almost 30-year run since the first car rolled off the production line in 1996.
This first-generation 1998 Boxster 5-Speed came finished in the classic concept color combination of Arctic Silver Metallic over a Boxster Red Special Leather interior and showed just 19,000 miles on the odometer. It was well-optioned from the factory with extra aluminum on the inside and 17” 996 Carrera-look wheels along with stainless-steel exhaust tips on the outside. Overall, it looked to be in very nice condition and came with even paint meter readings and a stack of service records.
What I find most interesting about the early Boxster is the price variance. Only ~$20,000 separates bottom-of-the-pile Boxsters that are in need of some love and top-of-the-market super-low mileage examples like our Spotlight car, which sold at a final bid of $20,200. That price was definitely towards the upper end of the market over the last twelve months, but not the highest price paid, as there have been quite a few with similar miles and a handful lower. Fair deal for a great-looking early Boxster.
