2000 911 Carrera 4 Millennium Edition
A pair of Millennium Editions fail to sell after a spectacular sale earlier in the week

To celebrate the turn of the century, Porsche offered the special 996 Millennium Edition based on the Carrera 4 Coupe and limited to just 911 units worldwide. The Millennium Edition was finished in Violet Chromaflair paint, which, depending on light conditions, changed from dark violet to light green. On the inside, the interior was trimmed in Natural Brown leather with Dark Burr Maple trim and featured a number plate on the center console letting passengers know they were in something special.
Yesterday, we had two Millennium Editions end, the 9,000-mile 2000 911 Carrera 4 Millennium Edition pictured above, and this 29,000 mile example. Both were 6-speed examples, and both were in very good condition showing minimal wear and plenty of service history. Unfortunately, both ended as no-sales with the lower mileage example fetching a high bid of $41,000 and the other $30,000.
The market for Millennium Editions has been pretty rough lately, with only one car out of the five on offer over the last six month finding a home. That car was a 52,000-mile example that sold at Barrett-Jackson three days ago for $49,500 (with fees) and was the second highest price achieved for the model in the last five years. The highest? $53,900 (with fees) for a 54k-mile example sold at Barrett-Jackson in 2022.
Our higher mileage car currently has a Buy Now on PCARMARKET of $43,000, which when looking at the price paid at Barrett-Jackson, seems quite reasonable. As for our 9,000-mile example, maybe Barrett-Jackson is the venue as that seems to be where the buyers for these rare cars are bidding.
