2001 911 Turbo Coupe 6-Speed

A masterclass in selling a car in a softening market

When I first saw this 2001 911 Turbo Coupe 6-speed last week, I was certain it would do well despite the 996 Turbo market softening considerably since this time last year when the average sales price was just below $100,000. Twelve months on, that average sales price is at $65,000, and not due to lack of very nice cars making their way online.

Finished in Lapis Blue Metallic over a Brown Natural leather interior, this example sports quite the options list along with 83,000 miles. Those factory options include an entire cow in leather with Porsche’s Extended Leather Package, Leather-covered Ignition Lock Surround, Leather Speaker Covers, Leather-covered Center Console, Leather Instrument Surround, Leather Center Air Vent Bracket, Leather Dashboard Trim, Leather Dashboard Side Air Vents, and Leather Defroster Trim.

With 83,000 miles, the paint is not perfect, but the seller did an excellent job of providing paint meter readings when asked, photographing any imperfection, and even replaced the front lip spoiler. Inside, the car is in excellent condition showing little wear. But where this car really shone was in the mechanical preparation for the sale as the listing featured an invoice for over $8,000 in work completed earlier this month, a DME report, and a PPI completed at an independent Porsche shop.

All of the work on this beautiful car paid off as it hammered down at a final bid of $73,555, which is a six-month high for an example between 80 and 90,000 miles. Well sold and well bought for a turn-key driver of a Turbo. 👏
