2004 Boxster S 550 Anniversary Edition 6-Speed

A big bid for 50k miles. But worth it.

If you asked me what Porsches are next on my wish list, a Boxster S 550 Anniversary Edition would be pretty high up there. Built to celebrate the legacy of Porsche’s giant-slaying little race car, the 550 Anniversary Edition featured GT Silver Metallic paint, a lowered PASM-equipped suspension, 19” Carrera Classic Wheels, and plenty of Silver trim and aluminum in the interior. With just 1,953 units built, the 550 Anniversary Edition makes for a rare, and special, Boxster harking back to my all-time favorite Porsche.

This 2004 Boxster S 550 Anniversary Edition 6-Speed is number 776 of the 1,953 built and shows 50,400 miles on the odometer. It came, of course, finished in GT Silver Metallic and had the Cocoa leather interior along with Cocoa soft top, the perfect color combination. And while this example may look stock on the outside, it was modified by the selling dealer with JE pistons, Pauter connecting rods, a 74-millimeter throttle body, an LN Engineering intermediate shaft (IMS) bearing, IPD engine plenum, a Fabspeed Motorsport exhaust system, and an aftermarket ECU tune.

Manual Boxster S 550 Editions peaked at the end of 2021 and were on a bit of a downturn through early 2024 when average prices hit just over $20,000. But the back half of 2024 showed some promise with the last two examples selling for $30,000 and $27,000, both with under 20,000 miles. Our Spotlight car sold at a final bid of $26,000, which given the miles, is pretty strong compared to comps. It looks like all of that engine work paid off, and the winning bidder got a very nice example.
