2004 RUF Rturbo Coupe 6-Speed
A rare bird... but not a rare Yellowbird
The things I would do for this car. RUF’s Turbo 996, the Rturbo, was introduced in 2001 and offered a choice of turbo-charged engines producing 520-590 hp over it’s production run and was available in either widebody, narrowbody, coupe, or cabriolet configurations. To the general passerby, the Rturbo looks a lot like your standard 911, but those who know, can spot those fender-mounted intakes from a mile away. Other subtle differences include a revised front bumper, side skirts, and a larger, but still clean-looking, rear wing.
This 2004 RUF RTurbo Coupe 6-Speed was initially registered to Alois Ruf, Jr. himself before being sold and imported to the US in 2003 following display at the 2003 Essen Tuning Show. The car wears Azzuro Lipari paint over a Black leather interior and features the aforementioned RUF bodywork along with 18” RUF wheels, Ohlins suspension, and Red monoblock brake calipers. On the inside, the car has a RUF integrated roll cage along with Recaro buckets, and special Green-lettered instrumentation along with a RUF three-spoke steering wheel.
With just 26,000 miles on the odometer, the car looks to be in excellent condition although paintwork is noted on the front bumper and fenders. Other work on the car includes the replacement of the center console and ash tray along with refinishing of the RUF steering wheel in 2023 and service work including replacing the fuel pump, sending unit, filter, and venturi tube along with the ignition coil and spark plugs was performed at that time as well.
As this is a real W09 RUF VIN'd car, comps are few and far between. Over the past five years, I show only two other comps, with one of them being the sale of this car in 2022 at $445,000 all-in at Gooding & Company’s Monterey sale. The only other car was a 6,000-mile example finished in silver that hammered at $441,000 back in March of this year. While this Rturbo has a few more miles than the last, it sold at a final bid of $440,000. Well sold if you just base it on mileage, but the color was worth the price of admission. Love it.
