2005 911 Carrera S Coupe 6-Speed
Opposite day in the 997 C2S market
Production for Porsche’s sixth generation of the 911 began in early 2004 launching with two flavors: the standard Carrera with its 3.6-liter power plant, and the Carrera S, packing a 3.8-liter, 380 bhp flat-six, along with sports suspension and sport exhaust.
This 2005 911 Carrera S Coupe 6-speed is finished in Cobalt Blue Metallic over a Stone Grey leather interior and shows 66,000 miles on the odometer. It features Adaptive Sport Seats, Sport Chrono Package Plus, Navigation, and Bose from the factory for an original MSRP of $91,645.
The Cobalt Blue Metallic paint appears to be in good condition showing minimal wear and a slight scratch on the hood as noted in the listing. The interior is in very good condition as well and includes a Porsche Classic head unit and short-shift kit with a wood sift knob.
Under the hood, the 3.8-liter engine features a GT3-style intake plenum along with aftermarket exhaust system and headers; the removed components are included with the sale. The car has been well-maintained and includes a pile of paperwork that shows the IMS and RMS being replaced in November of 2022. Everything you could ask for in a 997.1.
The market for 997 Carrera S Coupes rose steadily from 2019 to 2022, with this example following right along as it sold for $35,250 in 2019 and then again in 2022 for $43,997. Since 2022, these cars have started to soften, losing about $6k in value over the last twelve months alone.
So it was quite the surprise when our Spotlight car sold at a final bid of $50.900, going $6,000 in the opposite direction of the market, and setting a new twelve-month high for the mileage range. While proper service and having the IMS and RMS addressed surely helped here, I’d have to go with well sold.
