2005 Boxster S 6-Speed
Seeing Red. But not that kind of Red.
Porsche’s 987 generation Boxster introduced a sharper, more aggressive design inspired by the Carrera GT, with larger air intakes and updated headlights to separate it from the new 997 911, something people weren’t too keen on with the 986/996 Boxster/911s. It also delivered improved performance, with a 2.7-liter flat-six producing 240 hp in the base model and a 3.2-liter delivering 280 hp in the S. Inside, the Boxster featured a revamped interior with higher-quality materials and a more ergonomic design, also addressing key weaknesses from the previous generation.
This original-owner 2005 Boxster S 6-Speed is finished in Guards Red over Black leather and shows 96,000 miles on the odometer. It came optioned with the Preferred Package, PASM, Sport Chrono, and more for an original price of $61,585 back in ‘05. The car looked to be in very good condition with plenty of photos in the gallery which included a pile of service records, full set of books, both keys, and oddly, a skeleton, which I’m not sure comes with the car or not. Overall, a nice example with some miles.
The 987.1 S market peaked in the spring of 2022 with average prices at $30,800 with a high of $60,000 for a 26,000-mile Limited Edition example. Since then, average prices have come down to just under $25k with a 20,000-mile Limited Edition setting a twelve-month high of just $40,000. Our Spotlight car sold at a final bid of $24,000, which was a strong number considering the miles. But to have been from the original owner with an excellent service history, worth paying up for. Fair deal here.
