2007 911 GT3

Bidders take their shot at the first 997.1 GT3 we've seen since May

The 997.1 GT3 was quite a departure from the 996.2 GT car it replaced upon its debut in 2006 for the 2007 model year. The new car featured a 3.6-liter flat-six producing 415 horsepower, and it was the first GT product to feature Porsche’s PASM electronically adjustable suspension system. With 917 units sold in the US, it’s relatively rare compared to newer GT3s and is regarded as one of Porsche's best analog driver’s cars.

This 2007 911 GT3 is finished in Carrera White paint over Dark Gray Natural Leather and Alcantara. The car shows 38,000 miles on the odometer and comes equipped with Porsche’s Sound Package Plus, Sport Chrono Package, and an aftermarket harness bar in the interior.

The car presents well enough for a “higher” mileage GT3 that has most definitely seen some track time, as it should. The downside, though, is the accident damage sustained in 2016 that required the replacement of the left front fender and painting work down the side of the car.

That didn’t stop the bidders, as this example sailed past comps to become the highest price paid for a car above 15,000 miles at a high bid of $147,997. Why so high? Maybe the fact that we haven’t seen another 997.1 GT3 come to auction here in the US since May of this year, and there was some pent-up demand as we’re getting into the Fall driving season. But for whatever reason, this one was well sold.
