2007 911 Targa 4S 6-Speed

Did a little celebrity help this Targa's price?

Porsche’s 997 was the last generation to feature the “greenhouse” Targa top that we first saw debut on the 993 back in 1996. Instead of the classic Targa bar with removable folding soft top, the new Targa system used two large pieces of glass with an electronic sunshade. I’ve always been a fan of the greenhouse Targa, not because of the roof, but I just love the way the system mates to the 911 Cabriolet body forming a sharp edge at the rear of the car.

This 42,500-mile 2007 911 Targa 4S 6-speed is finished in Guards Red over a Black Full Leather interior and is optioned with 19” Turbo wheels, Power Seat Package, Supple Leather, and a host of Exclusive Options such as a Sport Exhaust System and extra leather.

The Guards Red paint is in decent condition showing some chips and scratches in the paint along with a small dent on the driver-side A-pillar. The Supple Leather interior shows some wear on the drive’s seat as well as the seat backs and trim panels. Mechanically, the car has been well-serviced with plenty of records including work completed in January 2024.

The market for 997.1 Targa 4S has been fairly steady over the last two years hovering just above the $60,000 mark with a high of $100,250 for a sub-1,000-mile example back in 2022. THIS Targa 4S, however, was reviewed by Doug DeMuro in preparation for sale on Cars & Bids. So did this help the price?

Our Spotlight car sold at an above average price of $80,000, which for a 40,000-mile car, is a solid $10,000 more than recent comps and a new high for cars over 20,000 miles in the last twelve months. I guess a little celebrity goes a long way sometimes.
