2007 Cayman 5-Speed
Is there a better sports car for under $30k?
I know I’ve featured a first-generation Cayman recently, but I just can’t believe how much of a sports car one can get for around $30,000. Nothing else compares in the price range in my opinion as your getting a mid-engined, back-road carving machine for the price of a new Toyota Camry.
This 2007 Cayman 5-Speed is finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over a Black leather interior and shows just 10,000 miles on the odometer. The exterior presents in fair condition with the seller pointing out some chips. The interior shows some wear in the way of discolored buttons, and the headliner is sagging a bit. Honestly, probably a little rougher than one would imagine for such a low mileage example.
We’ve seen this particular Cayman a few times over the years, first selling in December of 2020 for $29,007 with 2,000 miles on the odometer and once again in June 2022, at the peak of the market, for $36,750 with similar miles. Over the last twelve months, base Caymans have hovered around $26,000 with a high of $37,500 for a Speed Yellow example with 7,000 miles on the odometer.
While this one wasn’t far off in miles from that high, it was a bit off in condition. But even with the few items that need to be addressed, the selling bid of $28,000 was on the low side when looking at comps. Well bought, and a much better choice than a Camry. To read the FULL Stuttgart Market Letter, with Noteworthy Sales (and No Sales), New Listings, and a full rundown of every Porsche sold today, subscribe below.
