2008 911 GT3 RS
Green is good.

I think most here agree that the 997.1 GT3 RS is a special car, but in my eyes, it’s one of Porsche’s truly special cars as it was the last true homologation GT3 to be produced by the company. Unlike the models that followed, the 997.1 was built to satisfy FIA GT3 regulations, meaning Porsche had to produce a road-going version to homologate its race cars, such as the GT3 Cup and RSR. This direct link to motorsport ensured that the 997.1 retained a purity of purpose—its Mezger engine, lightweight construction, and aerodynamics were all designed with competition in mind.
However, after the 997.1, rule changes allowed Porsche to homologate its race cars independently, eliminating the need for a road-going GT3 to justify their existence. The 997.2 GT3 RS, while an improvement in many ways, was no longer built as a homologation model but rather as an evolution of the platform for enthusiasts. Because of this shift, the 997.1 GT3 RS stands as the last of its kind—a car built not just for drivers, but for racing necessity, making it one of the most significant and authentic GT3s Porsche has ever produced.
This 2008 911 GT3 RS, finished in hands-down the best color combination of Green over a Black leather interior, is a pristine, one-owner example with just 7,000 miles on the odometer. It features Euro 996 GT3-specification seats, Schroth harnesses, a roll bar, and a Sharkwerks fire extinguisher kit, along with PCCB brakes and Sport Chrono from the factory. Presented in impeccable condition, this GT3 includes its original window sticker, comprehensive service records, and paint meter readings, all documented in the gallery. This was the one.
Every time 997.1 GT3 RS prices rise, it has been a Green example coming out on top with the last bump in averages being topped off by the sale of a 3,600-mile Green car at $390,000 back in December of 2022. While prices have edged up ever so slightly since then, I had high expectations for this single-owner car, and it did not disappoint as it set a new five-year high at a final bid of $395,997. Congrats AT.
