2008 911 Targa 4 6-Speed
Are glass-top water-cooled Targas finally getting their due?
The last twelve months have seen 993 Targas go to the moon with average prices gaining almost 25% to sit around $100k and a bunch even selling for over $150,000, despite them not being “real” Targas with a removable roof and roll bar. Water-cooled varieties of the giant sunroof Targas haven’t been so lucky, with 996 & 997s sliding from their 2022 peak.
This 2008 911 Targa 4 6-Speed is finished in Malachite Green Metallic over a Sand Beige leather interior and shows just 12,000 miles on the odometer. Optional equipment includes Heated Power Seats, Stainless Exhaust Tips, BOSE, and Navigation. Other than the color, nothing too crazy. Condition wise, it looked to be in excellent condition with even paint meter readings in the gallery along with lots of service records. Overall a very nice, low-mileage example in an excellent color.
Like I said, 997 Targas have been sliding since peaking in the summer of 2022, which has been the case for a lot of “normal” Porsche models. But our Spotlight car bucked the trend setting a new five-year high at a final bid of $89,500. While low miles and rare color certainly helped it’s case, could it be that the giant-sliding-sunroof cars are finally getting their due? If this sale brings more low-mileage examples out of the woodwork, and they do just as well, we could see a 996/997 Targa rally. But most likely, this one was just well sold.
