2011 911 GT2 RS

A strong sale for the car built to take down Godzilla

Development of Porsche’s RS variant of their 997 GT2 began in secrecy in 2007 using the codename 727, which corresponded to the Nurburgring Nordschleife lap time of the Nissan GT-R and set the North Star for the project. To slay Godzilla, the GT2 RS needed to be lighter, faster, and stronger, and Porsche’s engineers delivered with an astounding 612 hp, 516 lb-ft of torque, and 154 lbs in weight savings to produce a lap time of 7 minutes and 18 seconds.

This 2011 911 GT2 RS is finished in Guards Red over Black leather with Red Alcantara and shows 4,000 miles on the odometer. It is number 379 out of the 500 examples built. It features options like the Additional Interior Carbon Package, PCM with Navigation, Sound Package Plus, Sport Chrono Package Plus, and a Rear Center Console in Carbon.

As you would expect for such a low mileage, special car, the exterior and interior are in perfect condition. The Guards Red paint meters out evenly, and the interior barely shows signs of use. The car has been maintained diligently, with its most recent service in March of 2023, and it comes with a DME report from that time as well. Overall, it is an excellent example of an extraordinary car.

2023 has seen only one car at auction here in the US, a Silver 4,300-mile example sold at the Porsche 75th Anniversary sale in Atlanta, bringing $577,000. A price that seemed a little light compared to comps from the prior year. On the other hand, our Spotlight car hammered down at $705,000, setting a new high for a car with over 2,500 miles and proving that even as the market for some models softens, unicorns will still bring the money.
