2011 911 GT3 Cup
How high would you bid without the most important information?
Just like the differences in the street versions of the 997.1 and 997.2 GT3/RS, the upgrades of the dot-two GT3 Cup cars over the dot-one Cup cars is a little tweak here and there, but those tweaks add up. The 997.2 GT3 Cup received the 3.8-liter flat six producing 450hp with a sequential transmission and was built on the GT3 RS body, giving it some room for larger tires. The light weight, more power, and wider track make the 997.2 a weapon that can keep up with newer cars in the right hands.
This 2011 911 GT3 Cup is finished in White and features everything you would expect on the inside of a race car: a single OMP racing seat with a Schroth harness, a fire suppression system, roll cage, quick-release steering wheel, brake-bias adjuster, and a MoTec digital display. It rides on staggered-width 18” BBS center-lock wheels over six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers equipped with two master brake cylinders and features an air jack system.
While visually, the car looks to be in good condition, when it comes to race cars, things like hours on the motor, trans, and chassis are vital to values as is information on maintenance items as well as dates on safety equipment. Unfortunately, this car had none of that, and it was reflected in the price as it hammered at a final bid of $86,000.
Had that information been provided, we probably would have seen a price north of $100k. And even at $86k, some would argue that was to much given the lack of information on this one. At least the seller had a reasonable reserve here for what they had. Might be a pretty good deal if everything checks out.
