2014 911 GT3

Are we on the brink of a sub-$100k GT3?

When the 991.1 GT3 launched for the 2014 model year, it was 🔥, literally. Engine failures caused by a faulty connecting rod bolt caused a number of cars to catch fire, which led to a recall in March of 2014. Porsche decided to replace the entire engine in all affected cars and to reassure customers, they offered a 10 year, 120,000 mile warranty. But for many, that warranty is now up.

This 2014 911 GT3 is a one-owner example finished in Agate Grey Metallic over a Back interior and shows just 5,000 miles on the odometer. Factory options included Front Axle Lift, Sound Package Plus, Adaptive Sport Seats, and more for an original MSRP of $150,670. The car looks to be in excellent condition, but a lack of service records and the fact that the in-service date for this car was August of 2014 means that the warranty has passed on the replacement engine.

The market for 991.1 GT3s has been declining since Summer of 2023 when prices averaged around $135,000. Today, averages sit at $122,000 with 2014 cars closer to $108,000 and falling. Our Spotlight car was bid to $108,000, which is about average for a 2014, but it had below average miles. With a lack of service records and a dice roll on the engine, I probably would have taken that final bid as I see these crossing below the $100k mark in the not-to-distant future.
