991.1 GT3 engine warranties brought a new low for this 15,000-mile example

I’ve had my eye on 991.1 GT3s over the past few months as I believe worries over extended engine warranties starting to end are beginning to affect the market. After a meteoric jump from an average price of around $110,000 in 2021 to just over $130,000 average today, we’re starting to see that line fall with more cars selling below the average than above. And while the 991.2 GT3 has softened a bit, we’ve seen more cars sell above average prices lately than not.

If you’re unfamiliar with the 10-year, 120,000-mile extended warranty on 991.1 GT3s, Porsche issued it after a massive recall due to engine failures in 2014. After replacing 785 engines in all cars delivered up to that point, Porsche was pressed by a group of “Concerned Owners” to do more for those cars and all that followed, resulting in the extended warranty. And now that most of these cars are roughly a year out from the warranty expiring, comment sections are lit up with discussion over what will happen once it does.

This 2015 911 GT3 has an in-service date (when the warranty begins) of January 2015; therefore, it is out of warranty in February 2025. Finished in GT Silver Metallic over Black leather, this 15,000-mile example is nicely optioned with the Carbon Fiber Interior Package, Illuminated Door Sills, Red Seatbelts, SportDesign steering wheel, and some aluminum and Alcantara bits. It features painted side skirts, clear glass taillights, and PDLS headlights on the outside.

It is presented in very nice condition with a clean CarFax, although no paint meter readings are provided. It has a slight mileage discrepancy that looks like an error and can easily be adjusted with CarFax. Overall, it is a good-looking, well-specced car in a classic Porsche GT color.

Our Spotlight car sold at a high bid of $120,000, marking a new low for cars in the 10-20,000-mile range, aside from one track-focused car that sold for $114,500 back in June. Had the market been flat, I would have expected this example to fetch about $125,000, if not higher, but as I said before, we keep seeing new lows set with every 991.1 sale. How low will they go? Only time will tell, but if sellers start to dump these as we get within months of warranty coverage ending, I think a sub-$100k GT3 isn’t out of the question.
